Deidre Behar Bio
Since she was a child, Deidre Behar knew she wanted to be in the news industry. Always mimicking the broadcasts she would watch at home, the Cuban-American set out to attain an internship at the age of 16 where she could gain experience in the field she aspired to work in. Crediting entertainment news as her passion, Deidre spent time interning at Galan Entertainment and VH1 where she learned about the writing, editing, and production side of entertainment news.
In the summer of 2007, Deidre began what would turn into a year long internship at Fox News Channel which she describes as "the most incredible experience any 18 year old could ask for." Pitching story ideas to the bureau chief in the daily "morning meeting," she grew comfortable in the fast-paced environment and aided the producers and correspondents on their current projects by helping with logging and researching pertinent information. However, she eventually migrated to the entertainment department, where she was fortunate enough to interview some of today's biggest names, such as Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Hugh Laurie, David Duchovny, Buckcherry, New Kids on the Block, Clint Eastwood, Motley Crue, and more. Deidre was also fortunate enough to help out at major industry events such as the American Idol Finale, Emmy Nominations, Teen Choice Awards, and the Television Critics Association Conference.
Today, Deidre can be seen reporting for Palestra.net around the LMU campus, the greater Los Angeles area, and red carpet events such as movie premieres and award shows.
In addition to reporting for Palestra, Deidre serves as a correspondent and anchor for the nationally ranked LMU news program, "In The Know." While pursuing her degree in Communications and Spanish at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Deidre enjoys going to the beach, concerts, shopping, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and sorority sisters.
