Gay Marriage Rally In Cincinnati!
2008-11-18 22:38:46
This weekend in Cincinnati was rainy, windy, and the coldest yet this year. But that did not stop people who gathered Down Town outside our City Hall. Hundreds of protesters lined the streets equipped with coats, hats, gloves, umbrellas and signs. Some of the signs said, ‘Love wins’, ‘Discrimination is Immoral’ and ‘No More 2nd Class Citizen’. All these people gathered in support of gay rights and in opposition of Proposition 8.
On Saturday, gay rights activist groups rallied in support of marriage equality all across the United States. I decided to go in support of the rally and take some pictures. Walking up I heard the chant that the Obama campaign started: “Fired up and Ready to Go." The crowd also chanted back and forth, “What do we want? Equality! When do we want it? Now!” Once these chants died away different speakers from all walks of life and sexual orientations came up on stage and talked. They sang praise of all of us who braved the cold and rain to support this cause, they shared their personal stories and they encouraged us to get more involved in bringing equality to all people, no matter what the cost.
The atmosphere was simply electrifying. The crowd of nearly 500 people would break out into chants at any moment and horns blared as people drove past in their cars. There were American flags with colorful stripes, rainbow umbrellas everywhere and too many signs to count. To say the least, I was very happy that I attended something that I believe in and glad I had the opportunity to experience a really rally! My advice to everyone is a quote from Ghandi: “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

The Bearcats are 7-2, and 3-1 in the Big East. During the game Saturday Safety Aaron Webster had a great game with a career best of 13 tackles! Next week the Bearcats travel to Louisville to play for the 'Keg of Nails'. This rivalry trophy started by a few fraternity houses. The trophy signifies that the winners are 'tough as nails'.

UC ups record to 4-1
2008-10-04 12:23:37
The University of Cincinnati increased their record to 4 and 1 last night with their win over Marshall 33-10. UC started their 3rd starting quarterback last night, red shirt freshman Chazz Anderson. After settling down, Chazz threw for 2 touchdowns and ran another score in. Essentially his college football debut went well. John Goebel scored on a 21 yard run. Cincinnati had 2 long drives, the longest being an 89 yard drive where Anderson found Dominick Goodman in the end zone. Cincinnati has a home game next Saturday, October 11, 2008 against Rutgers. Even though Cincinnati has started 3 different quarterbacks, Dustin Grutza, Tony Pike and now Chazz Anderson, they are still going out, playing hard and winning games. It makes for an interesting football season to say the least!
