Last night I was gathered at a friends apartment watching the Texas-Texas Tech game. I had just returned from Nick Saban's post game press conference and I was looking forward to a relaxing evening of watching more college football. I am not going to lie-I fully expected Texas to win the game. Even with 2 minutes and Tech driving down the field I expected Texas to pull something out(and they almost did until they dropped a crucial interception). However, Texas Tech continued driving down the field and after Micheal Crabtree hauled in the touchdown pass to win the game, I couldn't help but to look at my friends and announced "Monday is going to be very interesting."
I say that because in case you didnt know: Nick Saban is returning to LSU. To give you an idea how much LSU fans are going to be ready for his return to Baton Rouge, I remind you that over 50,000 LSU fans without tickets made the treck to Tuscaloosa last year for Saban's 1st game against his former team. Now, I am sure you can imagine that the atmosphere at Tiger Stadium when Nick Saban returns to the place where he coached for 5 years. But as I mentioned, I was at Saban's post game press conference: And he does not want to talk about returning to LSU.
So couple the fact that Nick Saban doesn't want to talk about his return to Baton Rouge, and he doesnt like to talk about rankings (He didn't want to talk about being #2, I am sure he's not going to want to say anything about being #1) Even though the game is in Baton Rouge, I can promise you that Tuscaloosa will be buzzing all week
With all of that said-you will have to be crazy not to keep checking back to find out all of the latest on this Alabama-LSU week. This will be SEC football at its best. And for all of those curious to find out if Alabama is getting complacent-I'll give you an update tomorrow evening after I return from practice. Hold on to your seats everyone its going to be a fun week

3rd Saturday in October(But Not Quite)
2008-10-25 17:47:43
In about an hour the Alabama Crimson Tide will be getting ready for the rivalry game that is formally known as "the 3rd Saturday in October." This matchup against the Volunteers will be absolutely huge considering all that will be riding on this game for Alabama; most notably SEC and National Championship aspirations.
The past few games(Kentucky, Ole Miss, and now Tennessee) have been labeled as "Trap" games for Alabama. And although the Tide have had their second half struggles, they have avoided the trap and continued on undefeated.
The national media, and others figure it is just a matter of time before Alabama falls because of an overconfidence or not preparing the way they should. However following the team on a daily basis (press conferences and practices), if Alabama loses this year it will be because they play against a better team. With the leadership on this team from Head Coach Nick Saban on down to the Co-Captains of Antoine Caldwell and Rashad Johnson- they are always in the ears of teamates and aren't going to let them become complacent.
With all that said, I know some in the media are expecting a trap, but dont expect Alabama to fall into it.

Terrence Cody Down, But Tide Not Out
2008-10-20 20:26:52
When Alabama Defensive Tackle Terrence Cody went down in the 3rd quarter against the Ole Miss Rebels, it was almost as if everyone held their breath and saw a fan favorite, and a key to Alabama’s stellar defense lay in agony. It seemed their worse fears were confirmed when Cody was carted into the locker room. With that scene rolling through everyone’s mind, it looked as if Cody was done for the year. However after the game, Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban revealed that the injury seemed to be non-surgical, but nothing would be known for certain until an MRI was performed on the knee.
Then came today’s press conference. Nick Saban told the media Terrence Cody would be out at least 2 weeks. If there was ever a two week period to be down it would seem this would be the time. Alabama will play a struggling Tennessee Volunteer Team this weekend and Arkansas State the following week. If all goes to plan, Cody would be back for the showdown in that Bayou, when Alabama faces off against the LSU Tigers. As you may have seen in the “Meet Terrence Cody” story, Cody has an absolute love and passion for football that is unparalleled. A giant in stature, Cody is still just a big kid with a nervous smile that can fill up the room. That passion could be seen today at practice when Cody hobbled across the field with the help of crutches, but ready to begin his rehab to get back on the field.
So where do the Tide go from here? Well Alabama still features Josh Chapman, who has split time with Cody all season long. Although not as big (Chapman admitted today at Alabama’s media session he is down to 290lbs, and expected to loose more this week getting his endurance up) Chapman has seen a lot of playing time and regardless of size-is surprisingly just as strong as Cody. Also in the fold will be last years Nose Tackle Lorenzo Washington, and Nick Gentry. Both are a bit undersized for the Nose Tackle position, but are strong and have non-stop motors that will be helpful on passing downs.
