John Tsarouchas
John is a native Chicagoan and proud alumnus of Northwestern University and the Medill School of Journalism. Before joining Palestra.net John worked as Sports Director for the Northwestern News Network, anchored NNN's SportsNight, wrote for the Northwestern Chronicle, and worked in Northwestern athletics' media services department. As a freshman in 2002, John played football at Northwestern as a walk-on offensive lineman. John was one of Palestra.net's first student reporters and full-time employees. John is currently a senior producer at Palestra.net and manages a significant portion of the network, overseeing the work of student reporters in the Big Ten and Ivy League. He blogs twice a week on Big Ten sports and occasionally still reports on camera. With Palestra.net John has covered NCAA football, Big Ten basketball and softball tournaments, NCAA basketball and softball tournaments, primaries and caucuses in Iowa, Illinois, Florida, South Carolina and the massacres at Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois universities. John aims to educate his student reporters and to provide an enriching internship experience. John enjoys helping young journalists reach their potential. If you're traveling with him, you're going to have to headbang a little--he's a huge Metallica fan.
