From QB To Catcher

 

You have to be a poised, cool-under-pressure kind of guy to be a starting quarterback in the SEC. Alabama baseball coach Mitch Gaspard thinks those qualities will certainly help his new starting catcher, former South Carolina quarterback Chris Smelley. Smelley decided to ditch his facemask for a catcher’s mask last year. He was a standout catcher in high school in Tuscaloosa, and now he’s returned home and won the starting job for the Crimson Tide.
